Frequently asked questions about Slippers

What should you consider when choosing slippers?

Start by thinking about where and how you will wear your slippers. Relaxing on the sofa, working on your feet all day, using them in the bathroom or popping out to the letterbox all place different demands on them. Then look at the footbed, fit and sole. A contoured footbed supports the foot, a good fit keeps the slipper in place without pinching, and a non-slip sole makes it safer to walk on smooth floors.

Also consider whether you want an open or closed heel, as a closed heel or heel strap keeps the slipper more securely on your foot when you walk. At Minfot, our CEO, who is a licensed physiotherapist, tests our slippers with a focus on fit, footbed and how they feel to walk and stand in.

What do we mean by foot-friendly slippers?

By foot-friendly slippers, we mean styles designed with the shape, function and comfort of the foot in mind. This could include an anatomically shaped footbed, a good fit and a construction that supports the foot when you stand and walk.

What is the best material for slippers?

No single material is best for everyone. The right choice depends on when, where and how you wear your slippers. Wool is a natural material that both keeps you warm and can wick away moisture, which makes wool slippers especially popular in cooler months. Sheepskin slippers offer warmth and a soft feel around the foot.

For warmer environments, bathrooms, pools or changing rooms, other materials may be more practical. Choose a material based on temperature, comfort and where you will wear your slippers.

How should slippers fit?

A good fit means your foot has enough room while the slipper stays secure when you walk. Your toes should be able to move freely without hitting the front edge, and your foot should not slide around too much in the slipper.

Fit is also one of the qualities our physiotherapist looks at when we evaluate styles for Minfot's range. As styles can differ in both shape and size, we recommend that you also read the size and fit information on each product page.
